Solo Scientific Tinder HOT Box Solar Fire Starter

The Solo Scientific Solar Fire Starter is a tough, well-designed fire-lighting tool which doubles as a pocket-sized storage box for your tinder. Machined from solid aircraft-grade aluminium, the Solar Fire Starter features a polished parabolic mirror which can be used to light various forms of tinder simply by harnessing the sun’s rays. This tool is favoured by Ray for its compact size, considered design and ultra-strong build.

The Solo Scientific Fire Starter comprises three simple components: a parabolic mirror; an airtight, watertight lid; and a tinder holder arm. To use this tool, simply remove the sealed lid, unclip the tinder holder arm and place it in the upright position in the centre of the mirror. Insert your tinder of choice into the expandable slot on the arm, and you’re ready to go. When angled correctly, the parabolic mirror focuses the reflected rays of the sun into a singular point, achieving temperatures high enough to ignite your tinder.

This tool works well with a wide range of natural tinder materials, as well as pieces of char cloth or fuel tablets. When not in use, the tinder arm can be securely stowed on the underside of the lid. The lid itself also functions as an emergency signalling mirror, thanks to its polished surface. Lastly, the outside of the Solar Fire Starter is knurled for grip.
